Overtime Heartbreaker !!!!
Midway through the overtime period Lucknow tallies the only marker of the game in a 1-0 victory over the Hornets.
What makes this such a bitter pill to swallow was that a minute before the game deciding goal Howick was asseted two minor penalties on the same play to two different players putting the Hornets in a huge hole. With both teams entering the contest with records of a win and a tie the importance of the outcome was critical.
To have it decide by an official on a power trip was a travesty. Throughout the game phantom calls against Howick kept a determined Hornet squad on the defensive. Killing off six penalties in regulation time kept Howick from getting fluency in their game.
During the hand shaking by the coaching staffs after the game the Sepoys staff communicated that they even saw the discrepancies in the calls all game long and that how the teams should have been allowed to determine the final out come.
Usually after an overtime goal is scored there is a huge cheer from both the team and the crowd that cheers them on. After this goal though, there was only a quiet gathering of the victorious team. If someone were to walk in off the street they would not have been able to notice which coaching staff just had their team win the game.
Lucknow's coaching staff earned a great deal of respect from this coach for the character that they displayed under these circumstances.
